Nomad has launched its most powerful GaN charger to date, a dual-port 65W AC adapter. This charger can power MacBooks and iPads or iPhones or Google Pixel 6 and Chromebooks, and is about the size of an AirPods Pro charging case. Read on to learn more, including hands-on details.
Today, Nomad introduces a new 65W AC adapter implemented with GaN technology. This release comes shortly after we found an Apple support document detailing the company’s own 35W USB-C dual-port charger. However, Nomad opts for a 65W compact charger that is more useful than the dual-port 35W that Apple may or may not bring to market.
Nomad’s 65W AC adapter comes in a clean grey and black finish with foldable prongs to make it as compact as possible.
Either port provides a full 65W output when charging a single device, with 45W on the top port and 20W on the bottom when charging two devices.
I’ve been testing this charger and it’s very small and has a great build quality. It’s really handy to have a compact dual-port charger from a well-known company.
As you can see in the photo above, the 65W AC adapter has an AirPods Pro case footprint (though it’s thicker). And it’s much smaller than Apple’s single-port 67W power adapter.
Besides being the perfect charger for Apple users like MacBook, iPhone/iPad, etc., the 65W AC adapter is certainly valuable for a pair of any other USB-C devices.
In Google’s ecosystem, Nomad’s new charger is capable of powering the Pixel 6 series at full speed at 23W, which is sure to come in handy if you want to consolidate your charge while traveling with your Pixel and Chromebook. The charger can also reach the full 45W speeds of the Galaxy S22 series, while delivering 20W of power to a second device.
The 65W AC adapter is available now, shipping directly from Nomad for $69.95. Other options in Nomad’s GaN lineup include 20W and 30W chargers that are a fraction of the size of Apple’s equivalent.
