Headcannon, best known for its work on Sonic Mania as well as the mobile versions of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, has been confirmed for the upcoming Sonic Origins.
Released on June 23, the collection includes the classic mainline game with various added details, including a widescreen “anniversary mode.” Headcannon has confirmed via Twitter that it has teamed up with SEGA to remake Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles for the series, completing a “remaster” of the mainline game.

This is undoubtedly good news for fans of the series, as Headcannon’s participation in the series has been largely received positively. In our review of Sonic Mania, we called the game “a true return of the mascot”, giving it a 9/10 rating.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 remains one of the most famous entries in the long-running series, so it was a lovely surprise to see it given the “remastered” treatment by Headcannon, to say the least.
