Digimon Survive finally has a release date, and the new strategy RPG is confirmed to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC this summer.
Producer Kazumasa Habu revealed the date in a tweet, and this summer’s release marks four years since the game’s release, and three years when it was originally intended to be released. Published by Bandai Namco, Survive breaks the mold of previous Digimon games by blending the visual novel and turn-based strategy RPG genres.

The game will emphasize storytelling, and it will be an anime-style event with unique characters and plenty of drama that unfolds in branching storylines. During a school trip, the protagonist Takuma Momozuka is randomly transported to a mysterious world full of monsters, and the player helps him get home.
Despite the lengthy development cycle, neither publisher Bandai Namco nor developer Witchcraft have revealed much about the game, but released a trailer last month showing some of the game’s characters. The game’s opening animation was also shared in 2019, but it’s unknown if the movie has changed over the three-year interval.
When Digimon Survive launches this summer, it’s going to be a tough choice for RPG fans, as it’ll launch on the same day as Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which recently moved up its release date. Both games will be released in North America on July 29.
