Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro is expected to usher in a slight but very noticeable design change this year. Gone will be the notch as we know it, replaced by a punch-hole and pill-shaped display cutout. The overall goal of this design is to provide users with more screen real estate. More broadly, this design shift could be the first step toward creating a full edge-to-edge display that itself embeds sensors like Face ID.
Notably, the aforementioned design will reportedly be exclusive to Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro models. However, given Apple’s tendency to roll out new technologies and designs on its high-end phones, it’s reasonable to see a new iPhone design language become standard on Apple’s 2023 iPhone 15 lineup.

A closer look at the design of the iPhone 14 Pro
Recently, the YouTube channel technology blood Make a mockup video to give us a closer look at the design of the iPhone 14 Pro. There are a few things to note before diving in.
One, the pill-shaped cutout in the video may be a bit smaller than on the actual device. Second, the camera bump on the iPhone 14 will be slightly larger than on the iPhone 13. Third, the overall form factor of Apple’s 2022 iPhone lineup will remain the same.
In other words, thank goodness Apple didn’t revive the iPhone’s rounded corners.
With those qualifications, this mockup video does a good job of walking us through the design of the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro. The end result, in my opinion, is a significantly sleeker looking iPhone.

To get a closer look at what the new iPhone 14 design will bring, the photos below may be very close to what the final design will look like.
It’s a noticeable change, to be sure, but overall I think it’s a step in the right direction.
Upgraded camera technology
The new design is certainly interesting, but the main selling point of the iPhone 14 Pro is definitely the improved camera performance.
By the way, iPhone 14 molds surfaced on Weibo over the weekend, nicely conveying the slightly thicker camera module on the rear.

The iPhone 14 Pro’s camera, according to reliable reports, will sound incredible. When it comes to Apple and iPhone rumors, Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst with a stellar track record, said the iPhone 14’s cameras will “elevate mobile phone camera photography to the next level.”
Specifically, the iPhone 14 Pro’s camera will reportedly feature a 48-megapixel sensor on the back. The sensor itself is said to be 20 percent larger than its predecessor.
Guo added:
We think the new 2H22 iPhone may support both direct 48MP output and 12MP (four-unit combined output mode) output. At 12MP output, the CIS pixel size of the new 2H22 iPhone is increased to around 2.5um, which is significantly larger than the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, and larger than existing Android phones, close to the DSC level.
iPhone 14 Pro Pricing
Often, iPhone pricing is the last word to leak. Given that September is still a few months away, you might want to take this rumor with a grain of salt. With this disclaimer, rumor has it that Apple’s iPhone 14 lineup could be $100 more expensive across the board. This is reportedly due to more expensive and more advanced components.
If this rumor is successful, it means the iPhone 14 Pro could start at $1,099, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max will start at $1,199.
