Hasbro and Wizards will be broadcasting the inaugural D&D Direct on Thursday, April 21st, a Nintendo Direct-style broadcast dedicated to all things Dungeons & Dragons. Wizards of the Coast promises “exclusive reveals” across many mediums for tabletop RPGs, including books, video games, entertainment, and of course, the RPG itself. The D&D producer also teased “some surprises” during D&D Direct.
D&D Direct will begin at 12pm ET/9am PDT and will be live on the official Dungeons & Dragons YouTube and Twitch channels. The show, which will last about 30 minutes, is described by Wizards of the Coast as “packed.”
We have a good idea of what D&D Direct might cover, including at least one new book, Travel through the radiant castle, as well as live-action adaptations of the franchise in the form of movies and TV shows. There are also two video games: Baldur’s Gate 3still in Early Access, and an as-yet-untitled third-person open-world game from Hidden Path Entertainment.
D&D Version 5 may also see the return of Spelljammer and Dragonlance settings, according to Wizards itself. Hasbro and Wizards may also have more to say about the future of D&D Beyond, the popular digital toolset and online storefront it bought last week.
