Sony has revealed a target release date for its new version of PlayStation Plus, which will be available to users in the Americas starting June 13, 2022.
As detailed on PlayStation.Blog, Asian markets (excluding Japan) will get the new service first, as it’s currently targeting May 23, 2022. Japan will be on June 1st, followed by the Americas on June 13th, and finally Europe on June 22nd.
The president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment also revealed that PlayStation will expand its cloud streaming access to Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. These markets will also offer the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus at launch.
This new version of PlayStation Plus combines PS Plus and PS Now into a three-tier subscription service that will include up to 700 games and access to the most premium tiers of retro games.
The first tier is PlayStation Plus Essential, which offers all the same benefits as the current PlayStation Plus version for the same price of $9.99 per month. The next step up for PlayStation Plus Extra is $14.99 per month and adds a catalog of up to 400 of the “most fun PS4 and PS5 games.”
New PlayStation Plus: Games confirmed so far
The PlayStation Plus Premium tier is the highest option and costs $17.99 per month. In addition to all the previous benefits, it will add up to 340 games from PS1, PS2, PS3 (via cloud streaming) and PSP. This tier will also offer limited-time game trials.
Unlike Xbox Game Pass, however, PlayStation Plus won’t initially offer first-party games on the new service’s launch date.
