343 Industries has revealed its planned 2022 Halo Infinite roadmap, which includes the long-awaited late-August release window for the campaign network co-op.
Halo Infinite’s creative lead Joseph Staten revealed all the details at Halo Waypoint, and while they may change, they’re a good indication of what Halo Infinite fans can expect for the rest of the year. 343 It also noted that the time frame will “expand as we announce longer-term initiatives” and that “the roadmap is an evolving document”.
The roadmap starts with a second season of “Lone Wolf” that will run from May 3 to November 7. We already know that Season 2 will feature the new 100-tier Battle Pass, Catalyst (Arena) and Breaker (BTB) and three new game modes including King of the Hill, Land Grab and Last Spartan Standing.
Even more clearly, some of the events and new features that will emerge over the course of Lone Wolf. These include the campaign network partnership in late August and the Forge Open Beta in September. These release windows are targets and subject to change, but it does give more clarity on their development progress.
As for the Forge, the 343 decided to forego “a large-scale official flight program and go straight to open beta.” Once launched, it’s not going away and will continue to grow and grow over time.
Season 2 will also feature a new Fracture mode in Entrenched – the first week starts on May 24th – as well as Interference from May 3rd to May 16th and Alpha from July 19th to August 1st Two narrative events in the pack. These “multiplayer narrative events” will “put your Spartan at the center of an evolving seasonal storyline.”
343 also gave a brief look at what fans can expect from the currently untitled Season 3, which begins on November 8. It will bring new battle passes, maps, modes, sandbox items, narrative events, fracture events and campaign split-screen co-op.
The lack of consistent content has also been addressed, with 343 saying it’s very aware it needs to do more, but it won’t do so at the expense of the team’s health.
“We knew we needed to deliver more content and more features faster,” 343 wrote. “Be loyalty to [a] zero priority [of team health] Means that sometimes we need to slow down to stay healthy and move faster later on. But we’re also actively looking for ways to speed things up. “
Finally, 343 shared that it will release “Drop Pods” of quality-of-life fixes when it’s ready — likely once a month — and that it’ll be doing an in-depth look at Season 2 and the roadmap on April 27th The Pacific Time 1pm/4pm ET/9pm BST.
