Ars Technica
It’s the weekend, which means it’s time for another Dealmaster. Our latest roundup of the best tech deals on the web includes some deals on Google Nest devices. For example, both the popular Nest Learning Thermostat and the more wallet-friendly Nest Thermostat are on sale, with the former going as low as $199 and the latter for $100 at various retailers. While neither deal comes with the absolute lowest prices we’ve tracked, both are well below their typical online retail prices and well below Google’s MSRP ($250 and $130, respectively) .
Regardless, these two devices are still commendable options for those looking to adopt a smart thermostat, both for reducing energy usage and for better control over the heating and cooling of their home. The high-end Nest still looks sharp, is relatively easy to install, and works with a variety of smart home devices and platforms. It can still “learn” your usual heating and cooling preferences, then automatically schedule its future adjustments accordingly, keeping (mostly) out of your way throughout the day. The more affordable Nest Thermostat lacks auto-scheduling (though you can still enter schedules manually), has a cheaper plastic frame, and doesn’t support Google’s remote temperature balance sensor, but it still looks good and has a similar set of features— — Includes tools like HVAC monitoring and voice commands via Alexa or Google Assistant — for less.
However, if you don’t need a new thermostat, other Google devices like Nest Audio home speakers and Fitbit’s Luxe activity tracker are also available. Beyond that, our roundup includes great deals on Nintendo eShop gift cards, a spacious 1TB SanDisk microSD card for the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck, some Roomba robot vacuums, iPads, AirPods, and more. You can find our full featured roundup below.
