After first getting closer to its final look earlier this week, real-world images of the Google Pixel Watch have leaked today.
These real photos – taken on a Galaxy Tab S7 or S8 – were sent to Android Central by someone who found what looked like a prototype Pixel Watch after it was “apparently found in a restaurant in the US” s things. Reminiscent of the iPhone 4 prototype lost in a bar and shared by Gizmodo. This happened 12 years and 4 days ago (indicating that time is a circle.) Another time the Pixel 3 XL was left in the back of the car (Lyft).
The images show a very stylish Pixel Watch – when viewed from the front – in line with previous leaks. The display is curved to the very edges, although you can see the metal underside in one of the angle shots. There’s only one image of the wearable, it’s just a splash screen with a white “G” on a black background. Therefore, we can’t see the full extent of the display and the thickness of the bezels.
The New Pixel Watch, with a trademark confirming the name yesterday, details from leaked images include a pill-shaped button above the crown. This configuration perfectly matches the UI mockup for Wear OS 3 at Google I/O 2021. You should be able to double-tap the top button to quickly switch to the app you last used.
It sits flush with the case and is otherwise barely visible when looking directly at the wearable. Beneath the silver crown, which is actually bottom hat-shaped, is a hole that can be used for a microphone or an altimeter (for stair-count tracking).
The bulbous rear is defined by a horizontally arranged pill with four square cuts. They may be used for heart rate sensors and other health functions. Zoomed out, the two halves indicate ECG (electrocardiogram) function.
We have a good look at the strap mechanism, which appears to be proprietary and may be suitable for quick strap switching. In Fitbit’s words, it’s an “infinity band” with a ring and peg design.
At the top should be a diagnostic port that is essentially similar to the Apple Watch. This may only exist on prototype hardware and will not be user-facing/accessible under any circumstances.
