- Images of what could be a prototype of the Google Pixel Watch have been posted on the internet.
- The device was reportedly left at an American restaurant and looks a lot like a previously leaked Pixel Watch render.
- The wearable is rumored to debut at Google I/O in May 2022.
In an incident that looks somewhat similar to the leaked iPhone 4 prototype more than 10 years ago, Android Central Published images of what appears to be a prototype of the Google Pixel Watch. The photos are from an anonymous source who claims to have found the device in a restaurant somewhere in the US.
The device does look very similar to the previously leaked Pixel Watch renders. The wearable also comes with a box that says the device is “for internal testing and development only,” according to anonymous sources. It also says “marking and packaging are not final”. This means that there may be some differences in the final product compared to the reported prototype.
Photos of the black smartwatch appear to show at least one button next to the crown. The back of the watch “looks like metal, but it feels like it’s plated with glass,” the source said. The person who left the prototype also left behind a blue strap that appears to be attached directly onto the case.
This prototype apparently doesn’t leave any chargers, although the Pixel Watch will likely have a charging pad on the back.
Google filed a trademark application for “Pixel Watch” earlier this week, and before this image leaked, it was strong evidence that the device was indeed on the way. Another report claims that, based on some Wear OS code, the watch may have a Samsung Exynos chipset inside. Google will likely officially announce the watch at its annual I/O 2022 developer conference, which begins on May 11.
