Almost 20 years have passed since then Minority Report It was released in the summer of 2002, but fans of futuristic films can join the fight against future crime by snapping up this Lexus CS 2054 concept car.
Designed by Calty’s Harald Belker, the car is envisioned as a production model for 2054 and will be auctioned by Mecum next month.
The details on the listing are simple, but it appears to be the same car – or a very similar one – sold by RM Sotheby’s in 2013 for $16,500 (£12,851/€15,290). The listing explains that director Steven Spielberg approached Lexus in hopes of creating a futuristic vehicle for the film. The end result is the 2054 concept car, which is envisioned as a “crash-proof car with a biometric safety system” and a fuel cell powertrain.

Of course, there’s a lot of movie magic involved, and the car is actually powered by a “contemporary Chevrolet drivetrain.”This made the concept drivable in the movie, although it’s worth mentioning that the car now features small island, It was released in 2005.
While we can’t say for sure if the two auction concepts are the same, it seems plausible, and the car’s improved condition can most likely be explained by the notes in the old Sotheby’s auction house. It said: “The interior is not fully finished and there are some cracks in the bodywork. However, a complete, unused spare body is included in the sale.” This seems to suggest that the previous owner may have installed the spare body or restored the original body.
Regardless, the auction will give bidders the chance to buy not just the concept car, but the movie car as well.
