iPhone 14 leaks have already shown that Apple is preparing some major upgrades for its next iPhones, and taking some risks. Now we also know that the iPhone 14 Pro models will have subtle but satisfying shape changes.

The discovery is credited to a respected rendering artist Ian Zelbo (via AppleTrak), he found that Apple plans to make the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max “much more curved” than the current iPhone 13 Pro models. Also, the shape change is a workaround for an existing iPhone problem that’s subtle, but once discovered, you can’t ignore it.
“[There] It’s a quirk of the iPhone 13 Pro design,” Zelbo explained. “The radius of the phone’s corners doesn’t match the radius of the camera bump (obviously, an odd decision for a company known for its cohesion like Apple) ). .. Apple has significantly improved the corners of the iPhone 14 Pro, finally addressing the odd look of the iPhone 13 Pro. “

But that’s only half of it: “In addition to having more rounded corners, the corners of the screen are also more curved,” Zelbo points out. He also explained why Apple made the change: Apple’s oversized new iPhone 14 Pro camera bump: “If Apple kept the same radius as the iPhone 13 Pro, this would cause the device to look very uneven.”
Zelbo found out after studying leaked iPhone 14 Pro schematics, noting that similar leaked iPhone 14 schematics show non-Pro models won’t make the same shape changes. Why? Because they’re going to stick with last year’s old camera technology, just like they’re sticking with old chipsets too.
The corners of the iPhone 14 Pro are noticeably more rounded than the iPhone 13 Pro

That’s the dirty secret of the iPhone 14 series. The iPhone 14 Pro models will make head-scratching changes to their features and design (including the loss of the notch), while the iPhone 14 and the new iPhone 14 Max are essentially the iPhone 13 with slightly more RAM.
In the eyes of many Apple fans, the relatively affordable new iPhone 14 Max should make up for that, but Apple’s plans to widen the gap between all of its Pro and non-Pro hardware are inevitable. This will also be reflected in their higher prices.
