Take Android screenshots with a simple swipe or no buttons at all

Voice commands and swipe gestures can make taking screenshots easier.

The Android operating system includes a wide selection of phones – the Samsung Galaxy S22, Motorola Edge and Google Pixel 6 offer a customized Android experience with their own special features. In addition to the standard Android method of pressing the home and power buttons at the same time, they each offer their own unique way of taking screenshots of your phone.

Taking screenshots with Android can be tricky and sometimes frustrating, especially when you’re trying to capture a specific dynamic scene, such as in a video clip or game. And if you’re not careful with the buttons, you could end up accidentally shutting down or restarting your phone.

Read on to learn the best ways to take screenshots on Android phones, as well as a full breakdown of screenshot shortcuts on Samsung, Google Pixel, and Motorola devices.

How to Take Screenshots on Your Android Device

Almost every Android phone or tablet allows you to take screenshots by Quickly press the volume down and power buttonsJust press them simultaneously – just a moment – when you release you will hear the camera shutter sound, your screen will flash and you will see a thumbnail of the screenshot appear at the bottom of your screen.

If it doesn’t work for some reason, press and hold strength button for a few seconds, then click screenshot when it appears on your screen.

You can quickly take screenshots of the Galaxy S22 Ultra and Pixel 6 by pressing the volume down and power buttons.

If you want long scrolling screenshots (Android 12 only), take a screenshot as usual, but this time tap two arrows icon in the screenshot preview. It may also be marked as “catch more”. Each time you click the two arrows, the length of the screenshot increases until you reach the bottom of the page.

In addition, timing is also important. If you hold down the button too long or release it too quickly, you may find yourself staring at your phone waiting for it to do something, but nothing will happen. Or worse, you might get to the restart screen and have no idea how to get back (just hit the home button). If you’re having a hard time triggering the screenshot feature on your phone, take a few minutes to practice both methods. It will save you some trouble.

Samsung has other ways to take screenshots on Galaxy phones.

Swipe to capture: To turn on palm swipe gestures, you need to go to set up > Advanced Features > Actions and Gestures and slide the switch next to palm swipe capture arrive exist Location. With the option enabled, slide the edge of your hand from the left edge of the display to the right to take a screenshot. It might feel a little odd at first, but for those struggling with the timing of pressing button combinations, it’s a more reliable approach.

use your voice: As long as you have Bixby Voice or Google Assistant enabled, you can use voice commands to take screenshots. talk, “screenshot” And either of these two assistants should be able to capture your screen without your hands.

S Pen: Remove the S Pen and go to the screen you want to capture.Now, click Air command menu icon > screen write Take a screenshot of the page you are on. You can then use the S Pen to write or draw on the screenshot.beat save completed icon.

As long as you’re running Android 12, you can use the unique swipe gesture to take a screenshot on the Pixel 6.All you need to do is Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold your finger on the screen for one second. This will open your app drawer where all your recently opened apps will appear.To capture your screen, tap Screenshot.

Additionally, you can use Google Assistant to take screenshots on the Pixel with just your voice. It doesn’t need to stop there. You can say things like “Hey Google, take a screenshot and send it to mom” and do multiple things with just one voice command.

Motorola’s Snipping Tool is also pretty cool.

Own a Motorola phone? It’s full of special gestures, like a quick wrist twist to open the camera, or take a screenshot.

You need to open the Moto app in the app drawer and select motorcycle action and click Three-finger screenshot from the list of options. There’s a quick demo built into the settings section that lets you try out the feature before enabling it. The process involves placing three fingers on the screen at the same time and spreading them slightly apart until you see the screenshot.
