So the app we are using to achieve this is called TapTap Flashlight and it is based on the open source code used to summarize the functionality. The app allows you to turn on your flashlight without touching the buttons, just by double tapping on the back of your smartphone.
As I said above, according to the developer, the app requires at least Android 7. I tested it on two devices, one running Android 11 and the other running Android 12, and it worked almost well (I’ll come back to that later).
I found the TapTap Flashlight very useful because when I need my flashlight most of the time, I do not have time to turn on my smartphone and go through the list. The app uses several methods to achieve this, but all of this is clearly explained in the app itself.
To configure it, you must allow the application to use the access functions of your smartphone. To do this, you just need to push “Admission service“, which will take you to the appropriate settings menu. There you will see a list of applications that you can move. Select TapTap Flashlight and activate. You will be asked to confirm this access permission because the application can read visually what is on your screen (used for dictation apps, for example) And that’s it!
