At the World Gardens in Berlin, we were able to take control of the OnePlus 10 Pro camera! Master Hasselblad David Peskens taught us about smartphones and his work with professional cameras in Hasselblad. Amazing fact: the professional photographer is very impressed with the performance of the OnePlus smartphone!
Already last year, OnePlus created a surprise with the help of one of the most popular camera manufacturers: Hasselblad. The Swedish company developed a special camera for the Apollo 11, the US satellite operation in 1969. So it was clear that we would once again have a Hasseblad camera on the OnePlus 10 Pro.

OnePlus 10 Pro, which is currently being released only in China, you will benefit from the color palette and camera application, which was created in collaboration with Hasselblad. The smartphone even has a certificate for “Hasselblad Natural Color Solution”, which only the manufacturer’s cameras have.
OnePlus achieves this on the one hand while guaranteeing enough dynamic range, but on the other hand it supports 10-bit color variation in the modern HEIF format. This is enough even for professional work.
With David Peskens walking through the World Gardens
To showcase the image quality of the OnePlus 10 Pro, the manufacturer not only invited me and other journalists to the World Technology Center in Berlin, but also to David Peskens. He is the master of Hasselblad using Hasselblad 1DX in addition to the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. He is therefore well acquainted with the neutral colors that make up Hasselblad’s reputation. According to David, this provides the foundation he needs to implement his own ideas behind the scenes.

David specifically used the OnePlus 10 Pro on the island of Madeira, known above all as a tax haven. But above all he chose Madeira because the weather had so much moisture, because, in his work, he loved to paint scenes covered in clouds and fog. The results, especially in the 12-bit RAW format, make it difficult to distinguish those obtained by a professional camera.
Although David did not give me his pictures in this article, you will find some views of the garden greenhouse in my photo gallery. We were only able to use the OnePlus 10 Pro with limited restrictions. Among other things, only the main camera, not accompanied by David Pesken’s Master filter, which promotes the “When night falls” series, and without night or long exposure methods. Meanwhile, we were able to convert it to Pro mode and take pictures from RAW format.

For me, this is a huge advantage of smartphones: you can face impossible angles with other cameras © kwgeek

How good is the OnePlus 10 Pro camera?
For the first test, it was especially possible the application level that I personally found interesting. In fact, OnePlus allows for example to display histogram in Pro mode or to display a higher focus, which ensures that the sharp areas are surrounded by an orange frame during manual focus. For photographers, in addition to these details, the top focus is on the orange Hasselblad and the shutter button looks like the Leaf Hasselblad shutter, which sets it apart from other smartphones.

David Peskens is also surprised by the sharpness of the smartphone, which comes out well in his pictures. The 12-bit RAW steps also allow for the production of color schemes such as those in the sunset without having to deal with clutter. In addition to this is a benefit I have already discussed in my conversation with Marcel Lesch, Ambassador of Oppo, in one of our podcasts on our German website:
We always have a smartphone. And for professional photographers it is increasingly apparent that not only quality is inadequate, but also the potential for work prevention.
OnePlus gave us access to World Parks and some sandwiches and drinks were provided during the event. We had to restore the OnePlus 10 Pro used at the end of the picture.
