The first information about the sensitivity of the largest modern photo to date has surfaced on the web. The Sony Exmor IMX800 is said to measure 1.1 inches and therefore offers a larger sensor area than the Sony Xperia Pro-I sensors. Rumor has it that this could give Xiaomi an edge over the competition.
- The new image sensor for smartphones should measure 1.1 inches
- The sensor can appear on the Xiaomi 12 Ultra.
I just updated our list of the best smartphone images when the Sony IMX800 first appeared on the web. According to the leaker DigitalChatStation, the previously unknown sensor measures 1.1 inches. It will then be the biggest sensation ever used in modern technology.
So far, the record was 1 inch, specially offered in China inside the Leitz Phone 1 in Leica, before coming to Germany with the Sony Xperia Pro-I. Unlike Sony, the sensor should not be 20 megapixels (native), but 50 million pixels. It will be very interesting to see if the surface of the actual liquid can be used for future generations.
Can the Xiaomi 12 Ultra also reach 50 megapixels?
Compared to GSM Arena, Xiaomi can do that and the reason seems plausible. In fact, later this year we should still see the Xiaomi 12 Ultra which is rumored to have a large 50-megapixel sensor. If Xiaomi manages to hit 50 megapixels in Ultra format, that will be a small step.
Not because there is no smartphone with 50 megapixels so far. Alternatively because Sony itself can only use part of the Pro-I sensors to take pictures. With the crop, the resolution of the sensors is reduced by 40 percent to 12 megapixels, because otherwise the edges of the lens are more likely to appear in the image as a blurred image. Xiaomi can achieve this by increasing the distance between the screen and the liquid. It will be seen, however, where the necessary space is available.
What do you think, do these rumors seem credible? And how much do you think the use of modern sensors is? The next market change or is it profitable?
