Upside down the cake?
Upside Down Cake is a dessert I never thought to try, and it’s the name of Google’s likely upcoming Android 14 operating system.The news comes from a discovery inside the Android Open Source Project, which Google has formalized as upside down cake.
Now, while we do appreciate that Google continues to do this internally, we don’t plan to see Android 14 ever sold as an upside-down cake. We’ve moved beyond all of that and now we’re starting to use purely numeric names like Android 12, Android 13, etc. Soon we’ll run out of letters in the alphabet, so it’s only a matter of time.
We’re still far from getting Android 14 on our phones. Right now, Android 13 is the latest and greatest beta version available on Pixel devices. Don’t expect to see Android 14 appear until early 2023.
