A few weeks after releasing the first beta version of iOS 15.5, Apple is seeding developers with a second version. In addition to this, there are beta 2s of iPadOS 15.5, tvOS 15.5 and watchOS 8.6. Go below for details.
Today’s iOS 15.5 beta 2 build is 19F5057e. Unlike iOS 15.4, which brought some features, this release seems to be focused on Wallet updates.
Here are the main features of iOS 15.5 beta 2 so far:
- New request and send buttons for Apple Cash in the Wallet app.
- The physical Apple Card is now called “Titanium Card” in Wallet settings.
- Apple Pay has been renamed the “Apple Cash” messaging app.
- Renamed iTunes Pass to “Apple Account Card” in the Wallet app.
According to analysis 9to5Mac, iTunes Pass will be a new card called “Apple Account”. This card will appear in the Wallet app just like the Apple Card and Apple Cash card. In this way, users do not need to present a QR code when shopping at an Apple Store, but can use Apple Pay to complete the purchase.
In addition to these changes on iOS 15.5 beta 2, the HomePod 15.5 software release has tweaks that add a new Wi-Fi bar in the Home app.
For iPadOS users, Apple says that version 15.5 of Universal Control requires all devices to be updated to the latest beta version.
Last but not least, interestingly, the iOS 15.5 beta also hints at future changes in iOS 16, because 9to5Mac Exclusive report here.
