Mark Gurman has again spread some interesting rumours about the Apple Watch Series 8 and corresponding “Pro”. Therefore, the leaker believes that the new smartwatch will definitely be redesigned, but without the long-awaited angular design. There won’t be new sensors, but the screen will be slightly larger.
- Gurman says the design should have a new form factor
- Smartwatch screens should be 7% larger
- The professional version should cost around 950 euros
The new Apple Watch design should no longer be a secret. Until now, most leakers believed that Apple opted for a flatter rectangular design. But the latest issue of the newsletter Open Mark Gurman contradicts this. Analysts say the design of the new Apple Watch Series 8 is undoubtedly the first redesign since 2018, but Apple wants a fresh design approach.

However, the leaker agrees with other rumors about the smartwatch. Therefore, the new Apple Watch should have a titanium case for more sturdiness. At the same time, the smartwatch will have a more powerful battery. As for the sensors, Gurman further determined that these capabilities will simply extend to body temperature sensors. Other upgrades, like blood pressure sensors or blood sugar monitors, aren’t quite there yet.
What Makes Pro Really Pro
The new version of the “Apple Watch Pro” should be aimed first and foremost at extreme athletes — or precisely those who like to buy Apple products with the “Pro” logo. Apple wants to accelerate a trend that has emerged in recent years and offer more expensive Pro versions of all of its devices. Gurman can only speculate on the exact name, as currently the watch has only one internal name, the name N199.
Compared to the standard Apple Watch, the Pro version should feature a larger and more sturdy screen, longer battery life, longer hiking and swimming tracking, and a stronger titanium case.
Best time to go out?
The Cupertino maker has chosen the perfect time to launch the Apple Watch Pro. In fact, the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is expected to launch at the same time, and its portfolio also includes a Pro variant.

According to Gurman, the Apple Watch 8 and Apple Watch SE should launch by fall 2023. As such, the leaker assumes that the smaller SE version will launch at €250, while the Apple Watch Series 8 will start at €399. Thanks to the many improvements, the Pro version should cost around 950 euros, almost the same price as the iPhone 13 Pro.
What do you think of these rumors? Is the pro version interesting to you, or do you prefer to wait for the cheaper “regular” version?
