The iPhone 14 should bring big changes to the selfie camera. While it was previously rumored that the Mini model will be discontinued in 2022, Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the iPhone 14 will incorporate a new selfie camera with autofocus and brighter lenses.
- iPhone 14 may feature autofocus selfie camera and brighter lenses
- Only the iPhone 14 Pro can benefit from a new 48 MP main camera
- Under-display camera rumored to come to iPhone in 2024
The iPhone 14 may have a better selfie camera
Ming-Chi Kuo is one of the most trusted analysts on Apple products and their new features. According to its latest information, the entire iPhone 14 series will feature a new selfie camera with autofocus and a brighter lens thanks to the f/1.9 aperture. If that happens, it would be a huge improvement over the FaceTime camera, as the current iPhone 13 and earlier models have cameras with fixed-focus lenses and f/2.2 apertures.
A smaller aperture means a larger lens, so more light can be captured, resulting in better photo and video quality. Also, the use of autofocus presupposes a larger sensor, which limits depth of field and makes the use of prime lenses impossible.
