If you’re excited about what’s next for Bungie, somewhere in Destiny 2 lies the studio’s next project.Current Destiny 2 Director Christopher Barrett Asked Twitter (via GamesRadar) If Bungie’s new IP is hinted at somewhere in their massive first-person shooter, Barrett simply replied “yes”.
yes

Barrett followed up his brief response with another one-word tweet, saying “maybe,” and a smiley face that looked like the moon. This has led some Destiny fans to believe the hint is hidden somewhere on Earth and Moon in Destiny 2’s Shadowkeep expansion. Even with hints, the Destiny community has yet to find an Easter egg. So, if you’re a Destiny 2 fan, maybe it’s time to start looking for the moon!
Barrett is currently the director of Bungie Games after stepping down as director of Destiny 2 in 2018. Joe Blackburn is the current director of Destiny 2.
This isn’t the first time Bungie has hidden Easter eggs in the game for its next project. Halo 3: ODST was released in 2009 and included a poster that said “Fate Waits”. Trailer has been removed.
Little is known about Bungie’s new IP. According to a 2020 job listing, Bungie is working on a “comedy” game featuring “whimsical characters.” Also, the game will apparently include “various hunt and loot systems” and a “basic role-playing” system, so we might expect some Destiny-like mechanics. Another job posting last year suggested the project was a “character-centric” multiplayer game. We don’t know when the game will launch, but back in 2019, Bungie announced plans to release at least one non-Fate game by 2025.

Bungie was also acquired by PlayStation earlier this year, but the new games in development won’t be PlayStation exclusives. Sony does want to help Bungie turn its franchise into a movie, which could include Destiny and any new IP the studio is working on.
