Saints Row’s extensive customization options have been revealed with the Volition showcase and new trailer – design socks for your bosses, recruits, criminal enterprises, headquarters, vehicles, weapons and…?
Volition’s next entry into the Saints Row series looks to have the most extensive custom toolset we’ve seen. The deep dive reveal and trailer debuted yesterday on the official Saints Row website, but Volition creative director Brian Traficante wrote an in-depth article on the PlayStation Blog that was released at the same time.
“We put player choice first in Saints Row; we offer the best and most dynamic combination of customization features across the board, making it the best customization toolset in a Saints Row game to date,” said Traficante.
Saints Row is about crafting your own experience, whether it’s in your character’s appearance, or what’s called a boss here, your weapon, your vehicle, or everything else. Customizing your boss is the first thing you do in the game, and Volition’s suite of options should suit every player. Players in Saints Row have no gender boundaries, and you can create your boss any way you choose, whether it’s someone similar to the real you, a completely different person, or any other style you want to express yourself – “You can wear anything and nothing Restrictions and rules.”
The customization toolset allows you to customize your character’s face and body with various types and textures, as well as add prosthetics, tattoos, piercings, scars, veins, muscle definition, and more. Even your hair color can be customized from root to tip. It also allows for asymmetrical face customization, which offers a ton of additional options. Of course, clothing customization is another major factor in the Boss’ overall look. Layers of clothing are back to life, so hopefully pair panties and socks – or not at all, you wild child!
In addition to your personal character, there are many other things to play in the world, such as vehicles. Saints Row will include over 80 cars for you to find and customize throughout San Eliso. Boats, jet skis, helicopters, cars, trucks, bikes and hoverboards can be found, customized and enjoyed. The vehicle’s paint, body, wheels, base lights, windows and more can all be changed to suit your style. They can even use signature abilities such as ejection seats, wrecking balls, or crab steering, allowing you to strafe down the street.
Customization looks to have been deeply baked into this issue. Weapons can be customized with different models, paints, finishes, casings, and more. From your gang headquarters to the various locations around San Eliso, Volition really seems to give us the toolset to make any story we want, and we’re all for it.
