Best Big Runes for Boss Battles

Radahn’s Great Rune is the best choice for boss fights as it increases your health, stamina and focus by 15%. This means you can attack more often and use Ashes of War multiple times before your character tires.

If you’re still early in the game and haven’t been able to unlock Radahn’s Great Rune yet, Godrick’s Great Rune is a great option. This will increase all your stats by 5 attributes.

This looks great because it has 40 free levels, but once you hit the soft cap of abilities, it doesn’t make much of a difference.

If you’re not too concerned about focus and stamina, Morgot’s Great Rune will increase your health by 25%.

In the heat of battle with Elden Beast, one more hit can make all the difference.

Best Exploration Rune

The best Great Rune for players to use when exploring the caves, catacombs and new areas in the Elden Ring is the Great Rune of Malenia or the Great Rune of Rykard.

Malenia’s Great Rune allows players to heal after taking damage. This means that if you are physically fit, you will be able to take some risky opportunities and be rewarded for doing so.

Rykard’s Great Rune allows the player to heal after defeating an enemy. This means players can save their flasks and heal themselves. But it doesn’t work well for bosses. Where Malenia’s Great Rune still has an effect.

So for caves that end with a boss fight, it’s best to use Marinia’s big rune.

Best Great Runes for PVP

You can wait until you enter the Sacred Snowfields, where there is an entrance to Mogwyn Palace. But it will take a while, as you can only enter this area after defeating Morgott, Omen of the Fallen.

But once you get Moher’s Great Rune, it gives the Mirage a blood blessing. This means that any Ashes of Souls or friends you summon will gain health by defeating enemies.

They also take increased damage as they lose blood around them.

When invading other players with the Great Rune of Moher, you will receive three Phantom Great Runes which can be activated and provide blood to the enemies of the invaded world.

This means that any bosses or enemies near the invaded will become more powerful.
