Are you looking to transform your car collection? So let’s direct your attention to one of the strangest vehicles you’re likely to see this year.
A 1999 Acura NSX converted to look like a Lamborghini Diablo GT is currently up for bidding on eBay Motors. If that’s not weird enough for you for some reason, just know that the person who commissioned this weird mashup is said to be former major league slugger Jose Canseco.
More from the Rob Report
Sometime around the turn of the millennium, Canseco got his hands on the NSX, although the car he seemed to really like was the 83-unit Diablo GT. The baseball player made over $45,000,000 over his 17-season career, so he could probably buy himself a $309,000 supercar. Instead of doing this, however, he hired the bespoke specialists who designed the Vaydor, the custom purple Infiniti G35 Coupe driven by the Joker Suicide Squadturning his NSX into a Diablo.

While the NSX and Diablo don’t seem to have much in common, they’re both mid-engined supercars from the 1990s. Because of this, they seem to have blended well together. Details are scarce, but the manufacturer appears to have taken the NSX’s chassis and mechanicals and covered it with a somewhat convincing Diablo body. No tech specs are available on the listing, except that it’s powered by a V-6 mated to a manual transmission. Assuming this is the same setup as in the standard 1999 NSX, that suggests the mill can pump out about 290 horses and 224 foot-pounds of twist. That’s nowhere near as powerful as the Diablo GT’s V-12, which makes 570 horsepower and 465 foot-pounds of torque, but it has some inspiring power.

If you’re wondering why the current owner is willing to give up such a rare vehicle, the answer is simple – he needs more space in his garage.

“This is a very unique and exotic sports car,” he wrote in the action list. “This car used to be owned by Jose Canseco and it was full of people. I only sold this car because I was going to buy another Lamborghini, and if I could keep two, I would.”
If this very unusual NSX-Diablo mashup piques your interest, you have until next Tuesday to make your offer. Bids have reached $123,456, more than $50,000 below the reserve price of $175,000. At press time, there have been 13 bids since the car went on sale on Saturday. We’ll know soon if it hits its mark.
