It’s been a few months since the Galaxy S22 Ultra was the daily driver for some members of the SamMobile team, and today we’re taking a look back at our time with Samsung’s latest flagship. After the honeymoon period, what about the Galaxy S22 Ultra? Does the new S Pen Galaxy flagship live up to our positive first impressions? You can learn more in the Galaxy S22 Ultra 2-month review video below (or keep reading to learn more).
One problem with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, as well as the rest of the S22 series, is that the Snapdragon vs. Exynos debate continues, and for good reason. Your mileage may vary, but the Exynos-based Galaxy S22 series has some optimization issues, and while it’s come a long way over the past few months, it’s not perfect. Still, as long as there were no underlying firmware issues, our Galaxy S22 Ultra performed very well.
The display and camera are excellent, but the camera UI could use some tweaks for a more cohesive experience. And not being able to switch between all three rear cameras while recording is a bit annoying [email protected] video (as you can [email protected]).
Aside from those few hiccups, the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s camera system is excellent in other ways. As our YouTube host Ben explains in the latest video: “It’s the equivalent of carrying a Swiss Army Knife because it can handle almost any situation you throw at it.”
The Galaxy S22 Ultra still feels like a Galaxy Note
One UI 4.1 has delivered a great overall experience on the Galaxy S22 Ultra over the past few months. While we have to mention again, it’s not perfect for everyone, and some annoying software issues have caused some occasional performance and stability issues. Thankfully, things have improved as Samsung continues to release new firmware updates every month.
But let’s get back to the hardware itself, and more specifically, the design. Our opinion on this hasn’t changed much, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra still feels like a proper Galaxy Note flagship rather than a Galaxy S top of the line. The performance of the S Pen is excellent, and the S Pen software suite is as solid as ever.
While many of us prefer the flat display design of the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+, the S Pen is still a must-have feature for millions of Samsung customers who ignore (or don’t care about) the curved display edge supermodel. At the end of the day, if you’re looking for an updated Note-like experience, the Galaxy S22 Ultra still feels like the answer two months after its release. This is the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra sequel we didn’t get last year.
We’ve discussed other interesting aspects of the Galaxy S22 Ultra in our 2-month review video below, so make sure you don’t miss it, and stay tuned for more Samsung device reviews.
