@Nintendofanatic94 Thanks for the compliment.Again, don’t be rude, but please understand this is my last response to this, I can’t do it all day lol
Of course, if they only release the digital version and not the physical version, they will lose money. Literally, I never even said that was even an option. Despite what they’re saying now, there isn’t actually a universe that doesn’t release a physical version. It’s just a tactic to get technical and sell more. That’s the exact gist of all my previous information.
There are two possible cases:
#1 Releases both digital and physical on the same day June 23rd (this is what you suggest your friends think will happen). As you said, fans will buy copies, and most will buy physical. or…
#2 only releases digital and says “no” is physical. Many fans bought digital copies. Then 6 months or so later, a physical copy is released with a small upgrade and all the same fans buy it again. double the sales. And those who “only buy physical” and not digital will eventually be persuaded to buy. It’s a win-win. That’s what they’ve done with Sonic Mania, and that’s what they’re going to do here.
As I and others have said, it doesn’t make sense to choose option 1. They’ll make less money, annoy shareholders who affect the company’s value, and they’ll expose themselves to a massive lawsuit.
As for Katie/MiniKitty, she is 100% an official Sega representative. She is actually hired by them to promote the Sonic brand through their official verified account, and even her personal account is certified by Twitter under the brand ambassador terms. She’s not something a fan account or average Joe can do. She’s not an “insider leaker” who can’t prove what they’re talking about. She’s literally the official “social media manager” for Sega Pay to promote Sonic as a brand/IP.
As I’ve made clear above, if you use Twitter or anything to give the impression that a publicly traded business you work for does something and then they do the opposite, it’s actually illegal , as it may lead to manipulation of stock market prices and insider trading. She’ll be very careful that what she posts is accurate and goes through Sega’s wording carefully first. I assure you, I know this stuff inside out. A quick glance at IMDb will confirm that I have worked for Disney, Sony and many other major corporations, making countless movies, including managing countless DVD, Blu-ray and CD retail. I deal with media lawyers all the time.
We should really stop talking about this anyway, as all the relevant points have been brought up multiple times and must be a little annoying for anyone else hoping for an interesting Sonic discussion with these comments! Let’s try to bring it back to the game, shall we?
