After the Google Pixel 4a, the most popular in the middle, the “flag” Mountain View finally arrived. The Pixel 5 marks a clear turning point in Google’s smartphone strategy, with the major search company leveraging its high position in raw power and customization to provide simple and effective smartphone customers at a competitive price. The result is Google’s smartphone still. Here is my complete Pixel 5 review of kwgeek.

Google Pixel 5 – Release date and price
In the past, Google has tried to put itself on the high end of a smartphone with the technical data sheet and the price it deserves from top manufacturers. By 2020, Google’s hardware department has taken a more conservative approach. With the price of smartphones now simply over 1000 euros, the Pixel 5 is entering the market at a lower price than last year’s Pixel 4.
In France, the Pixel 5 costs € 629. You can also choose Google’s monthly payment option and set € 27 / month for 24 months and 0% APR. It cost almost euro 100 less than the Pixel 4 last year, which sold for 99 899.
There is also only one model this year, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Considering the internal storage available, the Pixel 5 is almost € 200 cheaper than last year’s Pixel 4 storage model in France. Two colors are available this year: black and green which I use.
Google’s biggest challenge this year, however, is the OnePlus 8T, which with the Snapdragon 865 is more powerful than Google’s smartphones, plus a fast 120Hz display.
Go back to the basics of design
When Google released the Pixel 4a earlier this year, we got a glimpse of where the company was heading in its modern design. As OnePlus has done in the Nord, we are seeing some setbacks in the expensive designs, of all the flags in the last two years. The Pixel 5 is back to basics, and that’s a good thing.
This year, you’ll still get an aluminum chassis with the Pixel 5, but with a few high-end crashes. It’s a conservative approach, but one that is welcome. The back and sides of the smartphone are covered with an adhesive coating, which gives a comfortable grip, and the chrome power button allows you to easily separate the volume keys. Sorta Sage color, or “subtly wise” color, is a design I consider attractive, almost small by 2020. It weighs 151g.

You get a slightly larger screen than the Pixel 5 (6in) compared to the Pixel 4a (5.81in) and the phone feels bigger than the hand even though the difference in size is only 1mm. The Pixel 4a 5G, introduced on the Pixel 5, is once again bigger, putting the most powerful device in the Google Pixel 2020 right in the middle row in terms of screen size.
The resolution of the Pixel 5 is 1080 x 2340 pixels, with a resolution of 19.5: 9 (432 ppi). It’s practical, rugged and easy to see, but don’t expect the same experience you would get on an S20 or Note 20 Ultra, for example. In my opinion, Samsung is still the best in the class when it comes to smartphones.
90 Hz is good, but 120 Hz is normal
One of the few trades you make when choosing the Pixel 5 over other four-slot competitors (with the exception of Apple iPhones) is the 90Hz upgrade rate. The 6-inch OLED screen supports HDR10 +, but lacks a 120Hz upgrade rate that should be standard for high-end models of Samsung, OnePlus, Realme and Oppo.
Some are still skeptical of the benefits of offering high-quality returns, but I certainly am not one of them. For all I am a smooth recording, and it is difficult to go back to 60Hz when you adjust to 120Hz. 90Hz is normal though.
Again this year, the Pixel 5 screen is running at only 90 Hz. / © kwgeek
Like the Pixel 4, Google continues to roll out the phone with a new adaptive value that automatically drives it. To force the screen to run at 90Hz at all times, you need to enable Developer Settings and find the appropriate option. Since battery life is not an issue right now (much later), I recommend you do this as part of your initial setup.
All in all, the Pixel 5 is a compact and practical phone that gives daily comfort to those who are tired of the changes on the big screens, heavy smartphones and great features.
Pixels unique features for Android 11
Owning a Pixel smartphone is, in my opinion, the best Android experience. Not only do you get the latest version of the Google operating system, but you also get unique features instantly built into the user interface.
Last year, Pixel 4, Soli Radar technology opened the door for features such as Motion Sense, but we also saw Transcribe Live and several others introduced during Google Made. This year’s Pixel-specific approach is a little more attractive than Google’s search engine for more affordable tools, but there are a few software features worth mentioning in this test.
The live image sharing function of the site on Google Maps is the biggest. It uses enhanced facts along with a live view of Google Maps to show you, in real time, the exact location that friends have chosen to share their location with. This is not necessarily help with access roads, but large parks and open spaces can be helpful.

Other new features of Android 11, such as circles, a better Gboard, built-in screen capture and improved Smart Home functionality make the Android 11, and Pixel 5, one of the smartest Android smartphones easy to use. I have detailed the new Android features, including the Pixels own, in the article below:
The Power of Power
The biggest decision Google made this year with its Pixel lineup was to resist the latest SoCs on the market by choosing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G. Not only is the price still reasonable, but it means 5G is also supported.
The move makes Google a little different in the smartphone market than the previous Pixel phones, which were equipped with the latest Qualcomm chips available at the time of launch.
A group of hard-core Pixel fans will be upset that they won’t get the option to buy a Pixel with Snapdragon 865, or powerful chips, this year. After all, the “flagship” Pixel 5 is equipped with the same € 379 OnePlus Nord processor and € 299 Realme X50 5G.
However, even though it seems to be a neutral SoC, I think this step makes sense for Google this year. The Snapdragon 765G is a powerful chipset, 90% of customers can easily push their smartphone to the limit of their capacity, it is even safe to say that you will easily notice the difference in performance if you choose Pixel 5 instead of Pixel 5 Pixel 5. S20 this year, especially in Europe where Exynos chips are still among the best Samsung smartphones.
Google is targeting the general public as a tool that will be effective in everyday life rather than what is appropriate on a particular page. The standard Android 11 OS and some low-powered hardware upgrades help you differentiate between what you really need and what is currently considered high.
The place where you will see the biggest performance decline compared to last year’s Pixel 4 is when using the camera app. Thanks to its 12.2-megapixel sensor, Google has always managed to come up with the highest level of camera size thanks to its software development and, in particular, what the Pixel does in the background. when taking a photo. .
This reliance on digital imaging means that you will feel a bit slower when taking multiple shots in a short period of time, as the Pixel 5 needs more time to perform all the complex processing on the medium chipset.
Comparison of Google’s Pixel 5:

Still magic shots
There’s something warm and captivating about how Google is committed to putting the image in the Pixel Experience Center, and making it the best it can be. For the past two years I have tested dual, triple, and quad cameras, plus a five-lens camera that all shoot at the same time, and it feels like an endless combination of telephoto, wide angle, macros and deep nerves.
Some jump like cuckoo boxes and some turn. One of them even shakes. But by the end of the day, nine out of ten …
