Using the iOS iTunes Remote app, you can control Apple Music from your PC or Mac, but from your iPhone or iPad. I’ll show you how.
Have you ever listened to music on your Mac or PC and wanted to change playlists or artists from the couch without just moving around with your iPhone or iPad? Maybe your speakers are only paired with your computer, or you just lost your Apple TV remote?
If you use Apple Music or Apple TV, the iTunes Remote app developed by Apple may solve your problem. The app is available for free on the Apple Store and gives you more possibilities than what I’ve described in my example.
To summarize:
iTunes Remote, how does it work?
In 2010, iTunes Remote only allowed users to control basic functions of their media library. Since then, the app has continued to evolve. Today you can:
- Access your Apple Music, Apple TV or iTunes library
- Browse your music by artist, album and song
- Browse movies, TV shows and podcasts
- Create and edit your playlists
- Check out upcoming games with Up Next
- Find your Apple Music or Apple TV library
- Explore the Apple Music or Apple TV library.
- Control your AirPlay
- Combine your speakers to play music in multiple rooms simultaneously
- Adjust the volume of each connected speaker independently
How do I use the iTunes remote?
Like Apple, the iTunes Remote app is intuitive. All you have to do is download it on your iPhone or iPad, activate Home Sharing on your computer or Apple TV, log in with your Apple ID, and you can control your music, movies, podcasts and series.
