Paramount owes much to its performance in the U.S., where Jeff Fowler’s home movie amassed $190.6 million, more than any other video game adaptation on the market. The film was also a notable success in the UK ($34.3 million), Mexico ($22.1 million), France ($17.3 million), Australia ($16.6 million), and Brazil ($12 million), knowing it wasn’t in theaters yet in Japan.
By comparison, the first Sonic film grossed about $320 million, but in exceptional circumstances because a virus was about to change the game and trigger the first containment measures around the world. Unsurprisingly, Paramount is already preparing a third Sonic film, let alone making a series that will air on Paramount+, and it shouldn’t be the same as the upcoming Sonic Prime series on Netflix confused.
