Montblanc refreshes its line of luxury smartwatches with the new Summit 3. This is one of the few watches that runs Wear OS 3. The new luxury smartwatch is expected to get a significant upgrade thanks to the Wear 4100 Plus chipset. Since it will sell for 1250 euros, it’s still above the average for a connected watch.
- This luxury watch is powered by Qualcomm’s Wear 4100+ chipset
- Montblanc Summit 3 will be launched on July 15, priced at 1250 euros
Montblanc Summit 3 is neither GPS nor 4G LTE
Despite the reduced case size, the Summit 3 features a 1.3-inch AMOLED screen protected by a sapphire crystal, just like the Summit 2 Plus launched two years ago. Montblanc’s smartwatches now feature titanium cases with black stainless steel dials, and like many smartwatches, are water-resistant to 50 meters. The three mechanical buttons remain. Like the Summit 2, a rotating digital crown is integrated into the central button.
Surprisingly, Montblanc ditched GPS and LTE connectivity on its Summit 3 smartwatch, but there are plenty of sensors, such as those used to measure heart rate or the barometer and gyroscope. NFC payments are still supported, as well as Bluetooth 5.0 and Wifi.

Thanks to the Qualcomm Wear 4100+ chip inside, Montblanc’s Summit 3 is more of a true successor to the Summit 2 series than the Summit 2+. The smartwatch’s new processor, on the other hand, offers up to 85 percent better performance, in addition to a twice more powerful GPU and 25 percent lower power consumption.
On the software side, the Summit 3 is the first non-Samsung smartwatch to run Wear OS 3.0, jointly developed by Google and Samsung. Montblanc is also known to run a “skinless” version of Wear OS, which could give the Summit 3 a pure Wear OS 3 experience.

Like the upcoming Google Pixel Watch, we can expect Samsung to launch the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro running Wear OS 3 within a few months.
