The Galaxy S22s can finally install the Android 13-based One UI 5 beta. In this article, we’ll show you how to join Samsung’s beta program and benefit from the new operating system’s new features early.
- Samsung opens Android 13 beta testing program in US, South Korea and Germany on August 7
- Currently, only the Galaxy S22s can join the beta program
- The new version is expected to bring exclusive features to the South Korean manufacturer’s foldable smartphone.
Just like Android 13 itself, One UI 5 won’t bring huge changes. It’s just an improvement in the UI, notifications, security, camera app, and other system features. According to Samsung, One UI 5 will offer up to 16 preset wallpaper-based color themes and another 12 color options for the home screen, icons, and quick shortcuts for a stylistic look.

As for notifications, the new UI has new controls to block notifications in certain apps so they can only access content related to them. Additionally, new notification settings will force apps to request permission before sending notifications. Also regarding security, the manufacturer has created a new dashboard that identifies the privacy and security status of the device.

The One UI 5 beta is scheduled to be released on August 7 in the US, Germany and South Korea for the entire Galaxy S22 series (Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra).
If you own one of these models and want to try out the new features of the Android 13-based One UI 5 overlay, download the Samsung Membership app and sign up for the beta software program. But remember: installing the beta version on your main smartphone is not recommended, as this version is still in the early stages of development and may permanently damage your device.

Finally, Samsung is expected to expand its beta testing program for these foldable smartphones in the coming days, as the new Galaxy Fold 4 and Galaxy Flip 4 will be announced at the Unpacked event this week (August 10). This is relevant because the biggest expectation for One UI 5 is to see significant improvements to Samsung’s foldable smartphone. The idea is that the new update could bring more improved productivity tools.
