Overwatch 2 Some major changes are being made to the team shooter, including reducing the team size from six to five. With this new combination, tanks are more important than ever. Each team will have two support heroes and two damage heroes, and the tank’s job is to protect them.
Blizzard says there are two major hero reworkes in support of the tank class: One is the omnic Orisa, who has an almost brand new item, and the other is the damage dealer Doomfist, who has been moved to the tank class . Blizzard detailed the changes on Wednesday.
Doomfist is a notorious nasty damage dealer who keeps some old tools Overwatch Kit. He will now have more health (from 250 to 450), and while he loses his uppercut, he gains an ability called Power Block to protect himself from frontal attacks. His Rocket Punch and Earthquake Slam deal less damage, but they can still allow Doomfist to disrupt his enemies in the middle of the enemy team.

Blizzard explained that Doomfist’s ability to lock onto opponents makes it difficult for him to balance as a damage rating.
“We’re basically at a fork in the road. Either he needs a slight rework – maybe even a heavy one – to work properly as a DPS somehow and not just give you massive crowds when he kills you Control, or treat him like a tank,” Overwatch lead hero designer Jeff Goodman said in an interview. “He’s very threatening, he puts you in positions you don’t want to be in, especially on maps that have fortifications like ledges. He’s very good at breaking those fortifications.”
Orisa, on the other hand, lost almost all of her old gear. She no longer has Halt!, Supercharger or Protective Barrier. Instead, she has energy javelins that can force her enemies back – if they hit a wall, they take extra damage. The new ability, Javelin Spin, propels Orisa forward, destroying projectiles in front of her and knocking back enemies in her path. Her new ultimate, Terra Surge, can channel enemies towards her; Orisa is immune to crowd control during Terra Surge.
“Overwatch There could be this tendency to get really caught up in these defensive capabilities,” Goodman said. “Against Orisa and [Reinhardt] You’d say, ‘I don’t even get a chance to shoot a player again. I’m just shooting all these obstacles. ‘”

Orisa’s centaur form and her defensive gear also caused confusion. According to senior hero designer Brandon Brennan, her new form is “a fascinating, fierce tank.”
“She used to have a kit that could be used in 5v5,” Brennan said in the same interview, citing Sigma as an example. “But the way she looks and the way she plays, it doesn’t quite match up. We wanted to try and fix that so things make more sense if you see Orisa and what she’s doing. We think it’s brave to be involved. Orientation is perfect for someone, you know, as the community calls it, Lady Centaur.”
this Overwatch 2 The developers said the team tried a number of new Orisa versions, including a new model in bipedal form, but in the end they chose to stay true to her equine roots. As a result, she goes from one of the most passive tank heroes in the game to an aggressive tank who sneaks into the back row to take out her enemy’s soft underbelly.
Overwatch 2The beta version of the game will go live on April 26, and it will include these two new redoes. The beta also includes the new hero Sojourn as well as many other balance changes and quality of life additions.
