As if there were any lingering thoughts that Google would name it any different, it looks like the company has filed a patent application to secure the name pixel watch For their heavily leaked upcoming wearable. While tech companies aren’t always the savviest when it comes to naming their products, it feels like naming this watch anything but the Pixel Watch is a complete Google swing.

Either way, it’s now officially claimed by Google and the device we’ve been referring to for months (we’re referring to the collective internet) (the trademark is still pending), as the Pixel Watch is now available technically is called. The truth is that even if Google considered naming it something else before the past few months, they must have observed the hype around it and should probably change the name to Pixel Watch, regardless of the original branding.
Let’s face it, the watch has already been leaked in early renders, marketing materials, and even more renders, so Google doesn’t have much to do other than make it official. At the end of the day, we’ve been told to expect a sneak peek at Google I/O next month and a release later this year. Since we haven’t seen the Pixel Watch make it past the FCC or the Bluetooth SIG at this point, even Google opts for that. But with all the hype surrounding the device lately, there may still be hope to buy it ahead of Google’s standard fall hardware event.
