If you’re a PlayStation 5 owner, you probably know the hassle of having to connect to the console to update the DualSense controller firmware. It’s especially troublesome if you happen to be a PC gamer who prefers the feel of DualSense to the feel of a keyboard and mouse.
As of today, this is no longer an issue because Sony Interactive Entertainment Announce On Wednesday, PC gamers can now use Windows 11 and “select Windows 10 devices” to update the firmware of their DualSense wireless controllers without connecting to a PS5.
In a page dedicated to the announcement, Sony details the steps players must take to update their controller via a Windows PC, including downloading Sony’s Firmware Updater app and connecting a wireless controller using a USB cable.
Players will be regularly notified of new firmware updates and prompted to update their controllers to the latest version via the firmware app.
