Veteran game animator Robert Morrison, credited for creating hits like Resident Evil 7, Injustice 2 and 2018’s God of War, hinted in a tweet Bang Bang game from PlayStation Posted earlier today.
What a pleasant surprise to receive this rad gift from the PlayStation Creative Arts team today. PlayStation launched some popular games this year 😎 pic.twitter.com/8oQe5IWtmI

After a stint at Creative Affinity, Morrison rejoined the PlayStation Studios visual arts team (based in San Diego, CA) in July 2021. Earlier last year, a job listing all but confirmed that the supposedly secretive studio was working on existing PlayStation franchises.
Then, in April 2021, Jason Schreier revealed that the visual arts had experienced some internal turmoil as its leaders pushed for a remake of the 2013 game of the year The Last of Us. Ultimately, though, Sony decided to hand development rights to the makers of the original game Naughty Dog, with visual art relegated to ancillary duties. The decision led to the departure of key figures such as studio founder Michael Monbauer and “The Last of Us” remake director David Hall.
Robert Morrison did say earlier this month that he’s working on something cool, not God of War: Ragnarok.
I’m not working for Ragnarok. But equally cool stuff.

By the way, Sony Santa Monica’s highly anticipated God of War sequel is also the last PlayStation-exclusive game officially scheduled for release this year. As a reminder, there’s no official release date yet, although the PlayStation Store database lists September 30 as a possible placeholder for a tentative third-quarter release window.
If Sony does launch some “big” games for its PlayStation platform in 2022, we should hear more about them soon. stay tuned.
