A Pokemon Go player seems to have done something no other player has ever done, reaching level 30 without catching more than one Pokemon.
Pokemon Go is a very different experience than any other Pokemon game. Wild Pokemon are spawned depending on where you are in the real world, Pokemon have combat power rather than level, and players can gain experience to improve their trainer level.
A player’s trainer level is very important as it grants access to certain items and allows players to enhance their Pokemon even more. Trainers at level 20 cannot enhance their Pokemon the way they can at level 30.
However, increasing your trainer level can be an absolutely daunting task, as each level requires millions of experience points as you reach higher levels. It may take a new coach months or even years to reach the normal level of play at level 30, but one player has shocked the community by hitting that benchmark with a ridiculous self-imposed ruleset.
Trainer reaches level 30 without catching a Pokémon
Reddit user notAKawaiiCatGirl posted their achievements to the r/pokemongo subreddit. The title of the post is “Today I reached level 30, I’m just getting started, and only adding friends I really know IRL.”
The post contains screenshots of them reaching level 30 and proving that they actually just caught their starter. Their stats page also shows a start date of October 30, 2021.
This means notAKawaiiCatGirl is able to reach level 30 in less than 6 months without catching more than one wild Pokemon. So how did they accomplish this feat?

According to the OP, they get every bit of experience through Pokestops, gyms, eggs, gifts, and evolution. They can get new Pokemon with eggs, which is also how they can get candy to evolve them.
In a reply to the post, they stated that transactions were not allowed because it would reduce the cost of the challenge. They also revealed that they will continue to challenge until they reach level 40, which is the upper limit for such challenges.
