super mario galaxy Easily one of the best 3D Mario games out there, it was a huge hit when it was originally released on the Wii in 2007. Have you ever wondered what it would be like if this game were available on the Nintendo DS?
While there were shenanigans and so on in the past, you may remember – now there’s a fan project that actually makes this dream a reality. We covered this on Nintendo Life last June – showing footage of this custom version shared by YouTube channel Jesse.
Now, in the latest update via the Super Mario Galaxy fan account Comet Observatory on Twitter, which appears to have released a “short public demo” of this version. We also revisited this project that is apparently fully compatible with real hardware:
The Homebrew Super Mario Galaxy port for the Nintendo DS was recently released as a short public demo.

While this is just a small sample of the Super Mario Galaxy DS, we’re still just as impressed as we were when we first saw the project. With that said, it’s not necessarily the first time Nintendo fans have gone beyond the limits of official hardware.
