Not content with partnering with the Olympics, BTS, Thom Browne, and a host of other global brands, Samsung is now teaming up with Gamefreak for a limited-edition Pokémon Edition Galaxy Z Flip 3.
This latest collaboration combines the power of Pokémon and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 with a host of cute accessories and extras you probably won’t find anywhere else. It’s actually the standard Galaxy Z Flip 3, with lots of accessories featuring classic protagonists from the video game and anime series.
Trainers across the globe will envy the South Korean-exclusive equipment, which comes in a special presentation box that includes a host of Pokémon-themed accessories and extras. There’s a Pokédex carrying pouch, as well as a Pokéball pop-up socket, Pikachu-tail keyring, and a customizable clear case for the Z Flip 3. The smartphone packaging even looks like a Pokéball to match the rest of the tweaks.
This case includes inserts for the three main starters of Gen 1 – Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle – as well as Pikachu, Snorlax and Mew. Each case insert includes a Pokédex listing and number, which means you can switch your Galaxy Z Flip 3 at any time.
As for the Galaxy Z Flip 3, it comes in standard matte black, but comes pre-installed with a number of software tweaks, including Pokémon ringtones, wallpapers, and device themes. It’s unclear if this content will be available through the Galaxy Store at a later date, but we hope those of us in our global regions will be able to experience these limited extras.
Elsewhere, it’s the same as the older Galaxy Z Flip 3, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128/256GB of storage, but we’d wager the max will be used here, since it’s a limited option after all. There’s a dual 12-megapixel camera on the outside and a 10-megapixel punch hole on the inside.
One of the confusing aspects of the entire limited edition is that Samsung isn’t offering a Pokédex-themed Galaxy Z Fold 3 – which is sure to make a difference now.
