Bungie launches one of its biggest products Destiny 2– Thursday’s highlight blog in recent memory. The studio used nearly 9,000 words to describe some of the major weapon updates in its MMO on May 24, the start of its as-yet-untitled season 17.
too many minutes Destiny 2 The changes described here, so we’ll break down the two biggest changes that will have the biggest impact on players: glaive and Exotic changes.
Glaives has been weak since Bungie released Glaives witch queen Expansion in February. While exciting, they do not perform well in any difficult content. So Bungie is addressing this with some major updates.
First, Bungie made its intentions clear. Warglaive melee should help deal damage and serve as standard melee. So melee kills with long blades should trigger the Swashbuckler perk, but only ranged attacks will get the damage boost from the perks. That’s the current plan, at least.
As for specific improvements, next season’s PvE enemies will receive 25% more melee damage, while shields will consume 30% less energy than before. The speed of all Warglaive projectiles will also increase with range stats, moving much faster than before. This should help them perform better in high-end content, allowing players to use them as a defensive tool that still packs a decent punch.
Moving on to Exotics, Bungie is making major improvements to Exotic glaives. The Edge of Action Titan glaive mini-bubble will provide a Void shield to all players inside the Void overshield, and will benefit from the Helm of Saint-14 Exotic effect, which blinds targets within the shield. Thought Warlock Exotic Blade’s Healing Turret will gain increased speed and acceleration. The Edge of Concurrence Exotic Hunter Glaive’s damage has been tripled, and it now links to 8 enemies instead of 4.

On the non-glive Exotics side, Bungie is making changes to the following:
- lion fight
- eye of tomorrow
- Leviathan’s Breath
- Huckleberry
- Xenophage
- Monark
- Lorenz Drive
- Skyburner’s Oath
- last word
- crossbow
- Gravity Gun
- Overture
- indifferent heart
- Prometheus Lens
- Splitter
- One-legged golden bone
- wolf king
Many of these changes are simply buffs or nerfs, but some of them are undergoing massive rework.
Leviathan’s Breath is one of the worst exotics in the game, getting a 50% damage boost. It also now deals damage to explosions and shocks, which will allow it to stun an unstoppable champion and then deal damage to it during the stun. Its goal is to destroy Unstoppable Champions in high-end content, and this update looks promising.
Eyes of Tomorrow, team Exotic from Deep Stone Crypt, bosses and heroes do 30% more damage. On the other hand, Arbalest will deal 25% less damage to champions due to being stronger in Grandmaster Nightfall. Graviton Lance’s Catalyst will now give players Vorpal Weapon and Turnabout instead of Hidden Hand. Grand Overture will be able to fire a full barrage of missiles again by holding down the trigger, or five rockets with a flick of the trigger.
Skyburner’s Oath Scout Rifle has also received some major improvements. Aimed Shot is now instant hit (meaning it hits the enemy immediately) and both modes fire at 150 rounds per minute. Waist-fire attacks no longer track enemies, but shots detonate in a wider area and burn enemies. Guns now also have increased range and Masterwork has increased reload speed.
The game’s first three Exotic Tracking Rifles will also be getting some rework – in addition to increasing the damage of the Tracking Rifles against non-red-striped enemies by 20%. Coldheart now produces ionic trails when dealing damage, which grants ability power. It’s a little confusing that Prometheus Lens will apply a “more useful burn”, but it might make more sense when Bungie finally updates the Solar subclass. Instead of oscillating between three power levels, the Wavesplitter is always at a medium setting. However, picking up an energy orb will change it to the old “max power” setting for 10 seconds (up to 20 seconds), which also overwhelms the target.
This is just a small part of Bungie’s blog, which focuses on PvP air combat, perks, and some ability changes. Bungie also revealed a bunch of Iron Banner, Trials, and Grandmaster Nightfall weapons that will disappear over the next two seasons, as well as a system that will cause some playlist weapons to level up with more players on the playlist And drop additional perks.
Of course, all of these changes will be in the already-promising huge list of patch notes on May 24th.
