According to Bloomberg, Sega is developing a “big budget” reboot for its Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio franchises as the company seeks to generate global hits. The projects are reportedly part of Sega’s so-called Super Game plan, which was announced by parent company Sega Sammy in 2021.
Sega announced in November a strategic partnership with Microsoft to use its Azure cloud platform. In May 2021, Sega said it planned to leverage its dormant IP suite for remasters, remasters, and reboots, naming games like Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio as candidates for revival. Other potential games on the dormant franchise list include Space Channel 5, Rez, Panzer Dragoon, Nights, Shinobi, Virtua Fighter and Altered Beast.
