If rushing up a few flights of stairs leaves you breathless and your heart pounding in your ears, Sennheiser’s new Sport True Wireless earbuds may be just what you’ve been looking for. They can be customized to focus on your music or your surroundings, but uniquely also have the ability to tune in to the sound of your body.
There are currently two schools of thought when it comes to wireless earbuds. Options like the Apple AirPods Pro are designed to form a tight seal in the ear, and when paired with active noise cancellation technology, the wearer can (mostly) get away from the world and focus on what they’re listening to. Another approach is what Sony has done with its new LinkBuds earbuds, which are designed with a physical hole that allows outside sound to easily reach the ear. They increase awareness outdoors and allow users to easily talk to others without removing them. For its Sport True Wireless earbuds, Sennheiser seems to have taken both approaches and added a little extra.

The 7mm drivers inside the Sport True Wireless won’t surprise users’ ears (even the $99 Nothing ear (1) earbuds have powerful 11mm drivers), but Sennheiser does include six pairs of silicone adapters with ear tips: three 2 different sizes with closed design to block outside sound – great for noisy gyms – available in three sizes, open design allows some outside sound to pass through – great for users who are out running and want to know about traffic and other people in beside them.
The Sport True Wireless earbuds also feature advanced adjustable EQ settings, accessible through the app, that don’t just allow users to crank up the bass. With open-back earbuds installed, users can actually adjust the earphones to make their footsteps or heartbeats less noticeable, while boosting other ambient noises, allowing those lucky enough to have a running habit to navigate peaceful natural environments. Otherwise , when it boosts the sound of sirens or taxi drivers screaming at each other, the feature may be less appealing.
Battery life is claimed to be up to 9 hours on a single charge, while the earbuds’ charging case adds 18 hours. The Sport True Wireless earbuds are also IP54 rated, which means that while they’re safe from dust and the occasional splash, it’s still a good idea to keep them from falling into mud or puddles. But perhaps the best feature is the $130 price tag, which is available for pre-order now through Sennheiser’s website.
