Sonos’ next new product will likely arrive in early June. Thanks to renderings and details from The Verge, the next release will be a cheap soundbar that costs less than the Sonos Beam. However, it could have another use, as Dolby Atmos surround speakers paired with Sonos’ flagship Arc soundbar.
The Verge has shared exclusive details on the Sonos soundbar, which has yet to be released today, including renders based on images it has seen. The company’s newest speaker, internally codenamed “Fury”/model “S36,” is about 4 inches longer than the existing Sonos Beam.
It’s said to come in a black-and-white finish and cost around $249 — $200 less than the 2nd-gen Beam — and ditch some details like Dolby Atmos support, HDMI, and a built-in microphone.
This means the new budget soundbar will connect via the included optical audio cable as the main physical I/O. But The Verge says it will work to expand the new soundbar to a 5.1 surround sound setup and connect wirelessly with other compatible Sonos speakers.

Notably, other details found include the vertical mounting of the new soundbar, enabling it to act as the Atmos surround sound of the flagship Arc soundbar. The Verge also highlights that Sonos has a smaller, more affordable subwoofer in the codenamed S37—but release and pricing details are unclear.
The new Sonos soundbar is expected to launch on June 7, so it shouldn’t be too long before we hear official details like the company’s real name, specs, and more.
As we learned last month, Sonos is also working on its home theater operating system. We’ll have to wait and see if more information about the work is revealed along with the new soundbar.
