Glorious PC Gaming Race, maker of the Model O gaming mouse, GMMK Pro mechanical keyboard, and other popular peripherals, is rebranding. In changing its name to Glorious, the company wanted to leave behind a racially charged name.
The company was established in 2014. Its original name is a derivation of the term “Glorious PC Gaming Masters”.Game Reviewer Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw’s zero punctuation Fame ironically coined the expression to make fun of some PC gamers’ elitist attitude that their platform of choice is superior to their console. However, despite the term “Masters” being derived from Nazi ideology, some gamers have embraced the term.
“While we remain committed to serving PC gamers and don’t take ourselves too seriously, we’ve also grown and matured significantly as a brand.” Shazim Mohammad, founder and CEO of Glorious, said in a statement stated in the statement. “When I started this company, I never imagined that we would be who we are today. This new brand identity is more inclusive, more accessible, and represents who we have become and where we are going in the future. “
Glorious said its new name “inspires positivity” and will begin updating its brand in the coming weeks. It will introduce a new logo and relaunch its online store with a different, yet-to-be-published URL. Its upcoming products will be under the new branding, as will the existing lineup. However, Glorious said that making the transition with its current peripherals will be a multi-year process.
