The Pokémon Company has entered into an agreement to acquire the company that prints its trading cards.
North Carolina-based Millennium Print Group will become a subsidiary of The Pokémon Company — but will continue to operate independently — for an unknown price, gamesindustry.biz reported.
According to the Pokémon Company president Kouji Oku, the company has been producing Pokémon trading card game products since 2015 and will be able to do so more efficiently.
He said: “The talented team at Millennium Print Group has been a valued partner of The Pokémon Company International for many years, helping us bring the Pokémon trading card game to our fans in the quality they expect.
“By joining forces in a more meaningful way, our goal is to enhance the way our organization works together and continues to bring the highest quality Pokémon TCG products to market.
“At the same time, our goal is to evolve Millennium into a better, bigger, more advanced version of its already excellent organization, benefiting not only Pokémon, but all of their customers.”

Pokémon cards continue to be popular 25 years after the original sets were released, as evidenced by the number of people trying to steal them.
About $250,000 worth of Pokémon merchandise was reportedly stolen from an indie game store in Minnesota in February, while in March a man was arrested in Tokyo on charges of a literal robbery to steal precious cards .
Also in March, instead of stealing a Pokémon card outright, a Georgia man misused government funds to buy one, using COVID-19 relief funds to buy a rare, shiny fire-breathing dragon.
