The first near-final images of the Pixel Watch leaked today, and it gives us our first look at the final design of Google’s upcoming wearable.
Evan Blass on 91Mobiles this afternoon shared a render of the round watch, which features a very curved design. The display might just be flat as you see it, but Google went to great lengths to use glass to extend the curvature all the way to the rear (which we can’t even see in this image).
The crown also helps accentuate the seamless design with a stem that protrudes from the glass at the three o’clock position. Google didn’t hide the stem by making it silver like a crown, and it’s also wider — but rather short — somewhat reminiscent of a bottle cap.
Meanwhile, the dial is similar to the one we previously released in December. The time with the date complication on it — annoyingly, there is no day — and three other ones on it, apparently from Fitbit. There are steps, heart rate, and a stats overview that might start. Everything was dyed yellow-green. The last thing we see is a white dot indicating that you have notifications available.
This leak of the watch body raises a very interesting question: With this bezel-less design, will Google still offer multiple body colors? Looking at the Pixel Watch head-on, you don’t really see the device’s landing gear. In fact, to help sell the seamless design, it would be better if the body was also black/dark. The company could just offer a single color SKU and really emphasize the different bands that haven’t been leaked yet.
There are also questions about the durability of this design.
