iPhones and iPads have long supported dual-SIM functionality via eSIM. However, only iOS 17 allows you to assign a different ringtone to each SIM or eSIM. Here’s a step-by-step guide to setting ringtones for each SIM card on your iPhone or iPad.

Apple has yet to roll out the final version of iOS 17 for compatible iPhone models, or iPadOS 17 for iPad models. However, you can already test this feature by installing the iOS 17 beta. To do this, you must enroll in Apple’s beta software program.
iPhone or iPad: How do I set a different ringtone for each SIM card?
The process of changing and setting your ringtone is the same whether you have two physical SIM slots or use two eSIMs.
You can change the names of different SIM profiles before assigning different ringtones. This will allow you to manage calls and message sequencing more easily. For example, you can name your first SIM card “personal“,the second”professional“. You can also use a custom name.
- Enter set up At your iPhone or iPad
- choose sound and touchthen press alarm
- choose SIM card number set new ringtone
- Click on the ringtone name in the list to set it

If you want to change or choose a different ringtone for the second number, follow the same steps above. You also have the option to purchase and download new ringtones from the Ringtone Store located in the same settings section.

If you want to use a custom ringtone for each contact or group of contacts, the steps are slightly different than for assigning ringtones to SIM cards or individual numbers. Here is a guide on how to change a contact’s ringtone:
- Enter contact person on your device
- Select a name or contact from the list

In addition to ringtones, you can also set a unique vibration type for each SIM number on dual SIM iPhones and iPads.To customize the type of vibration, go to the section set up

However, you can’t use a single tone to send messages or texts on a dual-SIM iPhone or iPad. That is, both SIM cards will hear the same dial tone. The same goes for other types of alerts.
