Complex game, new developer Warhammer 40,000: The Chaos Gate – Demon Hunterapologized to players after running a campaign in which some in-game items were only available to those sitting in certain Twitch streams.
pass computer gamer, while Complex may think they’re running a fairly standard (standard 2022, anyway) launch window promotion, the nature of these projects and the associated fanbase/platform isn’t. The following is an example of a negative review left on a game’s Steam page that may have contributed to the claim:
This game will get a thumbs up, but one thing. For some ridiculous reason, the developers decided to put 11 in-game items (not skins or cosmetics, but actual weapons and armor) behind the twitch drop on launch day. In order to get these items, not only do you need to create and link a Frontier account and a Twitch account, but you have to watch hours and hours of boring twitch streaming chatter instead of actually playing the games you paid for. They’re also timed, so if you miss them, you’ll miss them forever.
It wouldn’t be a big deal if there was another way to get these games, but I wouldn’t watch ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Angry Joe 2 Hours just to get weapons.
Angry Joe Stream is actually only 45 minutes in, but their point is still there. These items aren’t anything fancy or game-breaking, most of them are just minor changes to early game weapons and armor that you’ll get through in a few hours anyway, but that’s the spirit of the move – and quests if the player wants to Trying everything the game has to offer, that’s their time – which is both upsetting and has practical consequences.
As such, Complex says that every item offered during the livestream will now be given away for free to all players later this month.
Ave Imperator Unit Commander,
We are glad to see that so many of you are enjoying Warhammer 40000 Chaos Gate: Demon Hunter. While we’re happy to see that you enjoy the game, we’re also listening to your feedback.
One of the areas we noticed was the frustration with the various Twitch casting campaigns we ran during the game’s launch. While the sole purpose of these events is to raise awareness, we understand that many people feel this locked-in-game item is far from them.
This is certainly not our intention and we appreciate you sharing your thoughts. As such, we’re offering players all of the items from every Twitch drop event through a planned update in May. We will confirm the update and exact date when it is finalized.
We hope this resolves your frustration and you can continue to fight the forces of Chaos with these items in your arsenal.
If you haven’t heard Warhammer 40,000: The Chaos Gate – Demon Hunterlet alone play, I’ll assume it’s because it’s the worst name ever, and another one comes to mind warhammer The game causes your eyeballs to roll back to your skull.
The problem is… this game is real good, very XCOMso for those of you who have glossed over it but are now gearing up to double back on this revelation, I’ll be sharing some impressions of it later this week.
