MacOS-inspired multitasking
According to well-known Apple insider Mark Gurman, iPadOS 16 could finally provide iPad tablets with MacBook-like multitasking capabilities. The development has been hinted at in Cupertino’s recent patent filing, which includes a hybrid iPad with MacOS-like software.
The update, expected to deliver a redesigned and more intuitive multitasking interface for iPadOS devices, has been highly requested by fans for years. It is also suggested that Apple will introduce an intuitive window resizing feature on top of the current Split View feature.

The extra power of the M1 chip is not wasted
Despite using the M1 chip in recent models, Apple’s tablets are still hampered by limited multitasking capabilities. The arrival of iPadOS 16 is expected to solve this problem, as it can take advantage of the extra power provided by Apple’s M1 chip. Ultimately, it could also be a sign that Apple will continue to equip its tablets with M-series SoCs for years to come.
Apple will announce iOS 16 and watchOS 9 at WWDC 2022 next week. Apple’s first mixed reality headset may also make an appearance. We’ll be streaming WWDC for you.
