Apple Watch has fall detection, which is not enabled by default. By default, this feature is only enabled for users over the age of 55. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to activate fall detection on your Apple Watch.
Fall detection has been available since 2018 and was released with the Apple Watch Series 4, initially enabled by default for those over 65. Recently, Apple changed this standard and the feature is now enabled by default for users 55 and older.
But why activate fall detection? Apple offers a number of SOS features to make everyday life less worrying, but it’s certainly not a guarantee. However, if you choose to use fall detection, thanks to built-in sensors, your Apple Watch will record sudden movements when you move, such as a fall.
If a fall is recorded, an alert will be sent to your connected watch. If it’s a false positive or you’re fine, just hit the “I’m fine” button and the operation is over. However, if you don’t respond to the alarm, the Apple Watch will make an emergency call, which can take up to a minute. After that, a message will be automatically sent to your emergency contacts.

How to enable fall detection on Apple Watch
There are two ways to activate fall detection on Apple Watch. You can do this from your iPhone or watch. In either case, the process is very simple.

- activation option fall detection
Follow these steps to enable fall detection from Apple Watch
- On Apple Watch, open set up
- press ask for help

When fall detection is enabled, the feature will default to “always on”. However, you’ll be able to choose to stay active only “during physical activity,” the difference here being that if you choose the latter option, it “reduces false fall detections,” according to Apple.
Go ahead! Now, if you fall badly, fall detection can help you by alerting rescuers.
So are you keeping the fall detection feature active? Have you ever had to use it? What other features of your Apple Watch do you use the most?
