How to connect AirPods to a Samsung smartphone
The steps to connect AirPods to a Samsung smartphone are basically the same as any other Bluetooth accessory. The first thing to do is to put the AirPods in pairing mode:
- Put the AirPods in the charging case and open the lid
- Press and hold the setup button until the status light blinks white
Next, start the pairing process on your Samsung smartphone:
- Open the application set up then enter connect
- go to menu Bluetooth
- Wait for the list of available devices to refresh, then select your AirPods
- Confirm pairing by selecting a pair

Of course, advanced settings and some special features (such as Apple-specific codecs or Siri) won’t be available when using AirPods with an Android smartphone. At least basic functionality will be available.

To disconnect the AirPods, just go into the Bluetooth settings, select the connected AirPods in the device list, and press disconnect. The same screen also offers the possibility to unpair the headset, preventing the AirPods from automatically connecting to the smartphone in the future.
Remember, just like the AirPods with the iPhone, Android smartphones are slowly gaining support for fast pairing. This is Google’s alternative to simplifying the sign-in process, but don’t expect to see this feature on Apple’s headphones or headsets.
